GBVresponse in Uganda
GPF had been using SASA! and now transitioned to SASA! Together, a community-led approach focused on the root cause of GBV, negative uses of power and power imbalances. GPF’s prevention activities will remain rooted in local activism, training, communication, and advocacy at all operational sites.
GPF uses the SASA! Together methodology, a tested and proven behavior change communication approach that is community-led and focused on increasing understanding of power imbalances and dynamics to mitigate GBV.
Importantly, GPF works with men, engaging them at their social areas, workplaces, and incorporating them in Community Action Groups (CAGs) conversant in SASA! and motivated to initiate social change. The approach is premised on the individual behaviour change model, something that is gradually scaled-up to the community level with impacts benefiting entire refugee and host communities.
